Strand Church (Tau, Norway)

Year

2012

This historic Norwegian white wooden church was built in the 19th century. In 2012, the construction’s original shingle roof was replaced with SunStyle solar shingles, making it the first church to adopt a building integrated solar roofing system. The low-profile solar shingles blend seamlessly into the traditional architecture while providing energy independence, at times generating enough power to allow the church to sell surplus energy to Lyse Energi.
